Ice Bucket Challenge - Lets Use This Opportunity to Raise Rheumatoid Awareness

I and every Pittsburgh Penguin fan everywhere have been nominated to take the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS by our owner Mario Lemiuex. No doubt everyone has seen the videos on facebook and instagram. If not, here's the dealio......You are nominated and have 24 hours to either donate $100 to the ALS foundation (a very worthy foundation) or you dump a bucket of ice water over your head. I am going to take the challenge today and go for the dump and raise some awareness about Rheumatoid as well. So I will donate to the Rheumatoid foundation and put it in my challenge so people just may be interested to do some research. So many people know so very little about rheumatoid disease which is evident by the "I just use Bengay" statements I hear so often.

Week 3 of Humira with Methotrexate

Surprisingly I can't say this two week period of Humira is going as smoothly as the first shot. I've been having a problem with numbness in my hand, only when lying down though so sleeping has been a little tough to say the least. Usually by 5:30am it is annoying enough to wake me up. Two days ago I started to prop myself up nice and high and sleep that way and it seems to work well, when I stay on the pillows. But, I've been pain free and that is a plus for sure. No flares. I'm thankful for that. I'm still playing a lot of tennis too :).

Two week of Humira, 2nd dose today

Started to get a little scary down the stretch to the next injection. Between the fights with Acaria to get the lead out to get it here and Fed Ex giving me some panic today I wasn't sure the 2nd injection would happen today. My symptoms were starting to come back so I know the Humira worked last time. I woke up at one point last night because my hand was incredibly numb and starting to hurt. Fingers have been numb and tingling leading up to the next dose. The shooting pain was increasing too after having none for a week and a half. Tonight, I don't notice any numbness. I'm tired. Could be anything with that. I've been tired for awhile now. I think I slept all day Sunday. No flares from playing today after having a few days off. Hoping we are on the right path again! Oh yes and steroids!!!

Acaria Health

I have to vent...Insurance companies suck. The days of going to Walgreens or CVS to grab a prescription are quickly coming to an end if you have re-occurring prescriptions like rheumatics do. Acaria is my new mail order company for Humira and Methotrexate and I hate them already. Haven't even gotten my prescription yet even though they've had it for over a week (and they tell me it's only been since Friday, sigh, so organized). I've been pretty clear that that Humira pen better be in my hand by tomorrow or they can take a hike. They are down to the wire. Let's see if they make it.
